On August 14, 2025, China announced the entry into operation of the world's largest offshore wind turbine, developed by state-owned CSSC Haizhuang. The structure is located in Fujian Province, in the southeast of the country.
The turbine has 140-meter blades and a 310-meter-diameter rotor. Its capacity is 22 megawatts, and according to the company's calculations, a single revolution of the blades can supply electricity to 40,000 homes for a day.
The project seeks to strengthen China's renewable energy capacity. The country is currently the world's largest manufacturer and installer of wind turbines, with more than 60% of global production capacity.
Chinese authorities claim that these innovations help reduce dependence on coal and contribute to their commitment to carbon neutrality by 2060.
