What I observed while walking along the sidewalk of one of the streets in the Nuevo Horizonte neighborhood of Barranquilla

As part of the El Caminante project, I walked along one of the sidewalks on 84th Street and 42D Avenue in Barranquilla. During this walk, I observed the variety of flooring installed, ranging from the standard, undecorated finish to more striking tiles and paving slabs.

Plain flooring is the most functional, while other materials, although more decorative, are not designed for use on platforms because they lack anti-slip properties.

In many cases, homeowners replace floors to improve the appearance of their facades or repair damage, probably with good intentions, but creating hazards for pedestrians. These surfaces can easily become slippery.

The situation poses a danger to those passing through the area, especially on rainy days or when watering the garden, as captured in the video at the end of the tour.
